There is nothing more stark than the look of realization on a child's face that what they thought they wanted more than anything in the world is as empty as air when they finally manage to get their hands on it. And that is if they are lucky enough to find this out early. So many don't and spend their entire lives pursuing material things for fulfillment. That isn't to say I don't believe in the pleasure principle because I do. But not to the exclusion of all else. I think balance is what we've managed to lose.
Interesting. This fits with my conviction that the best way to ruin the fun of doing something is to do it for money.
